August 17, 2010 – Family Net News Update

August 17, 2010

BC Family Net Society is pleased that our revised website is now up and running. We wish to thank Jar Design of Richmond who graciously offered to update and redesign our site. Please check regularly for updates. As our history notes we started this Society back in 1995 to provide a voice for parents due to serious changes being contemplated for service delivery on behalf of people with developmental disabilities.

We have seen many changes since that time culminating with the establishment of Community Living BC some five years ago. We are now at another crossroad where our movement is witnessing more changes due in part to budget constraints and an ever changing philosophy regarding how services can be still effective while costing considerably less. While families have always been willing to assist in ensuring that their loved ones get the best possible help we are fearful that the cutbacks and new delivery designs will have profound implications on those we strive to protect.

Our commitment as family, self-advocates and friends is to ensure that these changes are not detrimental and we strive to continue to advocate on behalf of those we love.
